Positivity or Negativity

I have had great days and really crappy days. I like to think I try to find the good in life but that’s not always easy. My hysterectomy in 2015 was a horrible day. More accurately – a horrible few years. I gained an understanding that it happened for a reason. As hard as it was to go through it, I not only survived but I became stronger because of it. You can choose to be happy in your life or you can choose to not be. You get to make that choice. Life isn’t perfect for anyone but it’s important to be thankful for the good that we do have in our lives.

​”Naomi“, my inner voice says, “you are delusional. Not about life not being perfect but you can’t expect a few words to make someone think differently, or try to find the good in the day. Remember the times you were told to do this, and you told the world to f$%k off?” Message received. Message ignored.

​I think we all have a hard time living life trying to always be thankful. Like Mondays. Yuck. Four more long work days after this until the weekend but there has to be something good in that, but what exactly is it? How about splurging on a pair of shoes. Catching up with a friend you haven’t seen. Eating something that tastes so good. Setting a goal. Smashing that goal.

Each day that you wake up is another chance for you to experience a life changing moment. You may never know which day it is but everyone has the chance to feel the blessings of life. Not all days will be perfect. But, keep in mind that in a world where billions of people live, there will always be good in each day. It may not happen for you but will happen to loved ones, friends and colleagues. Just be happy for them, enjoy that moment and don’t give up because your day will come. Sharing their happiness is bound to influence you, even if you don’t realise it at the time.

Now, what exactly happens when you “find the good in every day?” Well, this is totally up to you! Ultimately, this means choosing positivity over negativity. This instantly makes you happier when you choose to be positive.

Of course, you’ll have your bad days — we all do. Days that it feels like everything is against you. But even in that bad day, try to find one good thing. It’ll be hard, but choosing one positive thought that day may turn your whole day around — and your mood!

Is there something that you were meaning to do but didn’t? A goal or a dream you started but let life get in the way? During life’s journey we will encounter many obstacles that will cause us to stumble and fall. Don’t just sit there. Dust yourself off, take a deep breath, and finish what you’ve started.
